Reservations

You can make reservations by sending an email (info@arcrentacar.pt) or via mobile/WhatsApp (00351 968 059 412).

Prices are calculated based on the agreed-upon location, time, and date of pick-up and drop-off before the start of the rental. If you pick up the car a bit later or return it earlier, you will not receive a refund for the unused time.

Being considered a young driver will also affect the rental price.

To rent a car, you need a valid identification document (passport or ID card) in Portugal, a driving licence (valid in Portugal), and a credit card.

MasterCard and Visa cards are accepted.

American Express cards, mobile, virtual, prepaid, or reloadable cards will not be accepted.

No, a credit card in the main driver’s name is always required.

Yes, if arriving by plane and the car reservation is for Faro airport, we will check the arrival time to be waiting for you with the car.

We don’t want to leave you without a car at the start of your holiday.

Please inform us of your flight number (ideally, at least 3 days before picking up your car).

ANARENT CARS, LDA. will send a confirmation email or message if the reservation is made via WhatsApp.

Driver's Age and Experience

You can rent a car from the age of 24 up to a maximum of 75 years.

If you are between 21 and 23 years old, yes, provided you have at least one year of driving experience.  However, a young driver fee will be added to the rental price.

Under 21, it is not possible to rent a car.

Additional Drivers

The car can only be driven by the rental contract holder (main driver) or additional drivers mentioned in the rental agreement.

If the vehicle is used by an unauthorised driver, the insurance becomes invalid.

Rental Duration and Extensions

The minimum rental period is one day (24 hours).

Yes, however, the price of one rental day will be charged.

Any fraction of a day is considered a full rental day.

No, any extension must be done in person.

Extending the rental agreement involves extending the car rental as well as the initially purchased services.

If you return the car beyond the period specified for the end of the rental agreement, an extra day will be charged based on the current price list.

This amount also includes the additional cost of all extra products purchased at the start of the contract.

Documents and Driving in Portugal

You must present the rental contract, your driving licence, passport or citizen card, and the vehicle documents: registration certificate, insurance, and, if applicable, the inspection sheet and IMT extension authorisation.

If you lose or do not have the vehicle documents when you return it, we will charge €100.00 (one hundred euros) for issuing new documents.

Yes, wearing a seatbelt is mandatory for the driver and all passengers.

In Portugal, the speed limits are:

    • In urban areas: 50 km/h
    • Outside urban areas: 90 km/h
    • Motorways: 120 km/h

Be aware of speed control radars!

The blood alcohol limit in Portugal is 0.49 g/L.

All traffic fines, parking fees, tolls, and fuel are the driver’s responsibility.

No, avoid leaving any items inside the car, such as sunglasses, wallets, cameras, GPS, or any other valuables.

Any item left inside the vehicle is enough to attract attention and interest, potentially leading to a break-in.

Returning the Vehicle

Yes, the vehicle must be returned in the same condition as received, washed and clean.

Failure to comply will result in additional costs.

Smoking is not allowed inside the vehicles.

If evidence of smoking is found in the vehicle, the rental agreement holder will have to pay a fee of €150.00 (one hundred and fifty euros).

The driver must refill the fuel up to the level mentioned in the rental contract.

If it is not returned at the same level as delivered, we will charge for the missing fuel (usually higher than traditional petrol stations’ prices).

Motorways and Car Parks

In Portugal, there are tolls with two payment systems:

    • Electronic – roads with exclusively electronic tolls are signposted in advance.
    • Toll booths – traditional tolls, with payment at the booth either to a staff member or via an automatic payment machine.

When you pick up the car, ask for information on how the tolls work.

Before starting the rental, ask our staff to activate Via Verde (Transponder).  This will cost €1.85 per day up to a maximum of €18.50.

To make the trip more convenient, our cars are equipped with Via Verde devices.

If you use the motorway or car parks with this system, they will be paid by ANARENT CARS, LDA., and debited from your credit card.

Breakdowns, Damage, and Accidents

Yes, you have 24-hour roadside assistance available.

You should immediately contact ANARENT CARS, LDA. (00351 968 059 412).

In case of fuel error, the driver is responsible for the vehicle’s repair and refuelling.

Yes, the driver must confirm all damages to the vehicle at the start of the rental.

If not, any unconfirmed damage at pick-up and observed at drop-off will be charged.

In case of an accident, the rental agreement holder is responsible for the vehicle’s full repair, as the insurance becomes invalid.

If the vehicle is used by an unauthorised driver, the insurance becomes invalid.

In case of an accident, it is mandatory to call the authorities (112) and inform ANARENT CARS, LDA. (00351 968 059 412), and always fill in the Accident Report Form (DAAA).

A translation of the form is available in the vehicle documents folder to assist with filling it out.

Calmly complete the form, ensuring all fields are filled and that the form is signed by all parties involved in the accident so that it can be claimed against the insurance company.

The driver must submit all documentation related to the accident at an ANARENT CARS, LDA. station. An email contact should be provided in the rental agreement so that the driver can be contacted for further clarifications if needed.

If you do not fill in the form, we will have no way to act against the other party involved in the accident, and the driver will be responsible for all damages incurred.

Yes, you should take photos of the car positions, number plates, and, if permitted, the documents of the other parties involved.

If it is your fault, you will have to pay for the vehicle repair up to the franchise limit, which varies depending on the car group.

No, you will not have to pay for any repairs to the damage caused unless you are found to be responsible for the accident and it is classified as negligence.

In case of an accident with alcohol or psychotropic substances, none of our insurances cover the damages, so you will have to pay for the repairs.

Yes, whether you have CDW, SCDW, or SCDW Plus insurance, you will always be required to pay an administrative fee of €100.00 (one hundred euros) and provide a police report.

The amount may be higher if more than two cars are involved.

Although not stated by many car rental companies, this fee is charged by all companies, regardless of the insurance you have.

Upon contacting the authorities, an occurrence report will be made, which is usually ready one week after the incident and will be required by ANARENT CARS, LDA.

If you lose or damage the car key, the cost of replacement will be charged.

Among other things, negligence includes a burned-out clutch, off-road driving, parking on high pavements, lost or damaged key, fuel error, running a red light, not stopping at a STOP sign or at a priority road sign, driving in the wrong direction, and many other situations that will be analysed case by case.

These costs will be charged to the driver for the total repair.

Negligence is not covered by insurance.
